Yorkshire Marathon in memory of my mum Sandra

Story

My mum Sandra passed away at Derby Royal Hospital on 20th September 2017 aged 64 years. Beloved wife of Ian, much loved mum of Richard and Stephen, mother in law of Mary and Holly and grandma of Benjamin, James and Arthur.

On October 8th I shall be running the Yorkshire Marathon in my mum's birthplace York. This is a massive coincidence since I've been training for this for 4 months now and my mum was the most interested in how I was getting on.

I am raising money for Target Ovarian Cancer which aims to educate not just the public but key people like GPs the symptoms of this silent cancer. A small donation would provide specific training for a GP or contribute to new research into a cancer is often only treatable through radical surgery.

Here at the race and the atmosphere is electric! Proper Yorkshire spirit. It's been a tough few weeks for me and my family but doing this fella like the right thing to do. My mum would have been so proud. Love you mum! Also, just £93.78 left to reach my target. Thanks for all the lovely donations and if you want to gee me on my watch shows up short messages if you text me!!

Absolutely fantastic to keep getting these donations. You are all so generous. It is certainly giving me strength. I'm just posting a picture of my mum supporting me last year in the London marathon. She was very proud as you can see!

Wow! What a response. Between Just Giving and much loved you have raised over £500 in a day. Thank you everybody. I did a 6 mile run today and I feel really good. Just a case of looking after my body for a week or so. I've not drunk alcohol for nearly a fortnight now and I've made a point of eating really well with my dad. My mum would be so thrilled to see all of this support and I can't thank you enough!
